Bonteheuwel High School have been serving the Cape Flats Community for over 52 years, and have brought hope and opportunity to thousands of township dwellers. That said, we have produced our share of workers and professionals – both contributing to the economic prosperity of the country. Needless to say, we have made a considerable contribution to uplift the area.

Bonteheuwel High excels both academically and in sports. Due the “right sizing” act and the “decrease in staff” establishment has our staff decreased from 53 to 22 members . This had a huge effect on the well-being of educators – including the huge number of unemployed households which primarily effects our learners. As mentioned previously we currently have 22 educators for 830 learners, this however have not affected us excelling in both academics and sports.

Bonteheuwel High opened its doors in 1964 and at the time had a total of 108 learners. The first principal was Mr Rozant – Mr R Clarke became the Deputy Principal at a later stage.

These were the principals at the school during the years:

  • Mr J.Petersen
  • Mr L.Van Der Rede
  • Mr J.Majiet
  • Mr R.Eksteen
  • Mr M.Naicker
  • Mr J.September
  • Our current Principal: Mrs N.Pather.

Some of our learners later became educators at the school.
